Basement Jaxx: The Singles (Playlist)
While catching up on some music news from abroad, we stumbled onto a new disc we had to tell you about, Basement Jaxx – The Singles (XL Recordings). The import only comp from the Brixton duo of Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe is an infectious look back at the group who brought House Music to the mainstream with their 1999 self-titled debut and some big name brand TV commercials – “Red Alert” Coca Cola, “Do Your Thing” Levi’s and “Where’s Your Head At” Intel and Pringles. One of my fave dance tracks of all time, “Samba Magic,” comes from Atlantic Jaxx Recordings – A Compilation (Atlantic Jaxx Recordings – 1997), the groups’ own imprint. We’ve compiled it here for you to grab your own version from iTunes and chosen the best mix of each track (when avail) for your listening pleasure.
