Showing they love Microsoft, ‘Get a free month of #Hulu Plus with IE9′ (MainSt)

As we reported Tuesday, Microsoft (Stock Quote: MSFT) is making a strong play to regain ground in the browser wars, debuting Internet Explorer 9 with some of the strongest privacy features we’ve seen in a web browser. The company also announced Tuesday that it’s making a play for users the old-fashioned way: By offering free stuff.

In a blog post discussing the browser’s features, Microsoft announced a number of special offers for IE9 users. If you download the browser and then “pin” Groupon to your task bar, for instance, you can immediately see all Groupon deals and even buy them directly in the task bar; the first time you do so, you’ll get $5 in Groupon Bucks to use for a future purchase. Other deals include a free Xbox 360 4GB Kinect Bundle (worth $299) when you make a $250 purchase on Gilt through the taskbar.
