Head Cases centers on a successful lawyer (Chris O’Donnell) who has a nervous breakdown and teams up with a mentally disturbed lawyer (Adam Goldberg) with an anger problem. Together, the two represent people with all kinds of issues, not just legal ones.

Find me a traditional American newspaper that hasn’t mentioned the military everyday since March ‘03 and I’ll eat my shorts. Well, not really. The point is, times have changed and the words military and defense can be read or heard in the news everyday. Enter one of the most confusing systems of our government - the Department of Defense a.k.a The Pentagon a.k.a. the civilian run military. Does this bother anyone else? I’m sure they’re very, very smart civilians, but still, they have NO military experience.

It’s taken me the better part of today to get over the gut wrenching series finale of Six Feet Under (HBO). I had actually posted a long piece about it last night, but pulled it off this morning for fear of looking too overwhelmed by a TV show. Little did I know I was not alone in how I felt.

Darren Starr, the man behind Sex and the City, sets his sights on the Big Apple once again with new series Kitchen Confidential. With an ensemble cast led by Alias’ Bradley Cooper, Arrested Development as its lead-in, and Starr’s small screen fame, this little comedy might have just enough going for it to draw in some viewers early on. However, lacking in that something special that competitor How I Met Your Mother (CBS) has in spades, Kitchen might not make it in the long haul.

The upcoming season sees Jerry Bruckheimer expanding his broadcasting relationship beyond CBS with “drama” series Just Legal, starring Don Johnson as an ambulance chasing attorney mentoring an 18 year old legal prodigy. I didn’t get this pilot at all and I’m not even going to review it. This was one of the shows I predicted would have a short life and has an identity crisis in a pilot summary. Yuck! In somewhat better WB news, they’re adding critic fave (and mine) , Supernatural to the Tuesday night lineup. Although the pilot was very well received and will benefit from great press, scheduling is working against the show with The Amazing Race (CBS), My Name is Earl and The Office (NBC) and Commander in Chief (ABC) all in the same 9p timeslot. See our review for words from series creator McG during the TCA tour.

The eye expands it’s comedy Mondays with two newcomers, How I Met Your Mother and Out of Practice. I was disappointed to learn that HIMYM caused a bit of commotion at the TCA when the show’s exec producer announced that something significant to the pilot “will never really be resolved” while the network president said the complete opposite. This looks like shaky ground for a show I thought to be a clever comedic entry into CBS’ overly dramatic world.
Supernatural (WB)

Fans of the Gilmore Girls are in for a treat and a shock with the pairing of Supernatural on the WB Tuesday nights. Former series regular Jared Padalecki (ex-Dean) moves from Stars Hollow with Smallville’s Jensen Ackles (ex-Jason) onto the open road for a thrill ride that echoes of The X-Files, but scary.
